Odisha SRC issues advisory as IMD predicts temperature to touch 40 degree Celsius

The Special Relief Commissioner (SRC) today issued an advisory for six districts of Odisha after the regional centre of the India Meteorological Department (IMD) predicted that the temperature is likely to increase by 3-5 degree Celsius and either touch or cross the 40 degree Celsius mark gradually.

Bhubaneswar: The Special Relief Commissioner (SRC) today issued an advisory for six districts of Odisha after the regional centre of the India Meteorological Department (IMD) predicted that the temperature is likely to increase by 3-5 degree Celsius and either touch or cross the 40 degree Celsius mark gradually.

As per today’s weather conditions issued by IMD, the maximum temperature (day temperature) is very likely to gradually increase by 3- 5°c over the interior districts of Odisha state during next 45 days, the SRC’s office said.

The districts of Sundergarh, Jharsuguda, Sambalpur, Sonepur, Boudh and Balangir have recorded maximum temperature of 37 °c and above in today’s observation and this temperature is very likely to increase further by about 40 °c or above over isolated places during next 5 days, it added.

In view of the prediction of the IMD, the SRC issued the following advisory:

  • Steps be taken to circulate the warning message among the public.
  • Heat is tolerable for general public but slight health concern for vulnerable people (viz: infant, elderly and sick people).
  • Public may be advised to take precautionary measures for hot weather while going outside during noontime (around 3AM to 3PM in these areas).
  • Situation may be closely monitored and action as deemed necessary be taken.
