Odisha Police SI recruitment scam: Crime Branch raids ‘Vanik’ Coaching Centre in Bhubaneswar
A team of Odisha Crime Branch on Thursday conducted a raid on the ‘Vanik’ coaching centre located near CRP Square in Bhubaneswar as part of its ongoing investigation into the Police Sub-Inspector (SI) recruitment scam.
Bhubaneswar: A team of Odisha Crime Branch on Thursday conducted a raid on the ‘Vanik’ coaching centre located near CRP Square in Bhubaneswar as part of its ongoing investigation into the Police Sub-Inspector (SI) recruitment scam.
The Crime Branch team under the leadership of DSP Narendra Kumar Behera conducted the raid and verified the last five years’ admission data of the students of the famous coaching centre.
While speaking to the newsmen, DSP Behera said that the Crime Branch team conducted the raid based on the inputs received from some of the 114 candidates who have been arrested for their involvement in the SI recruitment scam.
During interrogation, some of the arrested candidates confessed that Vanik had allegedly referred them to the examination, the Crime Branch DSP said adding that they are verifying whether the coaching centre played any direct role in facilitating the fraud.
It is to be noted here that Odisha police had arrested 114 aspirants while they were being taken to Vishakhapatnam by three buses to get training on how to write the answers of the allegedly leaked question papers in the upcoming Combined Police Service Examination (CPSE) 2024. Each of the aspirants was allegedly asked to pay Rs 25 lakh to avail the leaked question papers.
