Bhubaneswar: Hundreds of members of the Biju Yuva Janata Dal (BYJD) and Biju Chhatra Janata Dal (BCJD) today staged a demonstration at Master Canteen in Bhubaneswar in protest against Police Sub-Inspector (SI) recruitment scam in Odisha.
As a mark of their protest, the BYJD and BCJD members were marching toward the State Assembly holding placards and shouting slogans against the BJP state government. Reiterating their demand for a CBI probe into the scam, they also burned effigies of Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi and some State Cabinet Ministers.
Several protesters including BYJD President Chinmaya Sahu and BCJD President Ipsita Sahu were detained by the police while marching towards the State Assembly by breaking barricades.
In her reaction, Chinmaya Sahu said, “Mohan babu (CM Mohan Majhi) and his ministers should watch international politics so that they can know what will happen if the youths and students resort to protest. The zenzi generation hit the street today and remained just a step behind entering the State Assembly. Next time, we will barge into the sessions of the House and question them (Odisha government). It is good that those who gave bribe were arrested and put in the jail, but what about the people who took the bribe? Where are they. They are moving around sitting behind Mohan babu. They are clicking photos with Mohan babu and Suresh Pujari as they are close to the Ministers. The state government should answer to who has got share in the Rs 200 Crore scam?
“We will hit the street yet again after a couple of days,” she threatened.
On the other hand the Odisha Police Crime Branch, which is probing the case, has so far arrested a total of five brokers along with 114 candidates for their involvement in the scam.
