Odisha Police crackdown on illegal firecracker trade, seize cracker worth more than Rs 8 crore in ‘Agni’ campaign
The maximum amount of firecrackers and explosives worth Rs. 5 crores has been seized in Boudh district.
Bhubaneswar: Firecracker worth more than Rs 8 crore seized under ‘Agni’ campaign launched by Odisha Police to curb illegal trade of firecrackers. The operation was carried away in the entire state from 14th to 27th of last month.
As per the information, on the instructions of the DGP YB Khurania, Odisha Police launched the “Agni” campaign from 14th to 27th of last month in the entire state.
The campaign has been launched with an aim to curb illegal explosives, unauthorized transportation and sale of firecrackers in view of the upcoming festival.
A total of 184 cases have been registered across the state, 133 people have been arrested and 45 notices have been issued. A total of Rs. 8,24,60,700 worth of goods have been seized.
The “Agni” campaign has curbed the illegal firecracker and explosives trade in the state. The operation is being carried out across the state under the direct supervision of Additional Director General of Police (Law and Order) Sanjay Kumar.
This effort of the state police is meant to ensure the safety of life and property of the public during the festive season.
It is worth mentioning that the maximum quantity of illegal firecrackers and explosives have been seized in the entire state in Angul, Keonjhar, Ganjam and Boudh districts during this campaign.
The maximum amount of firecrackers and explosives worth Rs. 5 crores has been seized in Boudh district. 10 cases were registered, 5 people were arrested and 5 people were issued notices.
Similarly, in Ganjam district, firecrackers and explosives worth Rs. 21,05,000 were seized, 14 cases were registered and 4 people were arrested. Arrested and 10 people have been issued notices.
Similarly, in Keonjhar district, fireworks and explosives worth Rs. 15,16,000 were seized, 21 cases were registered and 21 people were arrested.
Similarly, in Angul district, fireworks and explosives worth Rs. 1.50/- crore were seized, 17 cases were registered and 13 people were arrested.
