Bhubaneswar: Odisha’s Opposition leader Naveen Patnaik has refused to accept the recent salary hike for legislators in the State. Instead, he’s written to Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, urging him to use the increased salary and allowances for people’s welfare.
As the leader of the opposition party, Naveen Patnaik announced he won’t take the increased salary and allowances. In his letter, Naveen mentioned that for over 25 years, he’s received love and support from Odisha’s people and is indebted to them and his late father Biju Patnaik’s legacy.

In 2015, the Patnaik family donated their ancestral property, ‘Ananda Bhawan’ in Cuttack, for Odisha’s people. Following that spirit, Naveen doesn’t want the increased salary and allowances passed by the Odisha Assembly. He’s requested the Chief Minister to invest this money in the state’s poor people’s welfare.
