Odisha govt grants Rs 1.5 crore for Dhanu Yatra in Bargarh
The Government of Odisha has announced a grant of Rs 1.50 crore for the ongoing Dhanu Yatra festival in Bardarh.
Bargarh: The Government of Odisha has announced a grant of Rs 1.50 crore for the ongoing Dhanu Yatra festival in Bardarh. Tbhe govt has increased the previous funding to support the world’s largest open-air theatre, and also included Rs 10,000 honorariums for 200 artists, live streaming, special buses, and a dedicated website for promotion.
On the fourth day of the festival, the state government’s Culture and Tourism Minister Suryavanshi Suraj joined as the chief guest. The government has provided Rs 1.5 crore for Dhanu Yatra. Suryavanshi Suraj said that efforts are underway to get Dhanu Yatra UNESCO status.
The Dhanu Yatra is ongoing with much fervour as the festival has reached the fifth day. During the festival, Bargarh town transforms into ‘Mathura Nagari,’ Ambapali becomes ‘Gopapur,’ and the Jira river is referred to as the Yamuna.
The Dhanu Yatra festival started on from December 24, 2025, and will run in Bargarh till January 3, 2026.
