Bhubaneswar: In a bid to curb pollution and enforce environmental norms, the State Transport Authority (STA), Odisha, has directed Oil Marketing Companies (OMCs) to stop selling petrol and diesel to vehicles without a valid Pollution Under Control Certificate (PUCC).

In a letter dated December 20, 2025, STA Chairman instructed OMCs like IOCL, BPCL, HPCL, and others to ensure their retail outlets verify PUCC validity before dispensing fuel. “Operation of a vehicle without a valid PUCC is an offence under the Motor Vehicles Act, 1988,” the letter states.

The move aims to reduce pollution, enhance road safety, and enforce compliance with emission standards. OMCs are asked to sensitize staff and take action against non-complying outlets.
