New-born stolen from Baripada hospital rescued, accused woman arrested
The accused womwn has been identified as Parvati Hembram.
Baripada: The newborn that was stolen from the hospital in Baripada was traced out and rescued after 10 hours of the baby going missing. Baripada Town PS police handed over the newborn to his mother at the hospital on Saturday.
The accused has been identified as Parvati Hembram.
As per information, the accused woman who had stolen the baby was arrested. Police nabbed her from a place under the Baishinga Police Station limits.
However, it is not clear why she stole the newborn.
Further investigation of the case is underway.
It is to be noted that the newborn was stolen from the Pandit Raghunath Murmu Medical College and Hospital prompting the hospital authorities and local police to initiate a search operation.
Phulmani Soren gave birth to a baby boy on the way to the hospital. Later, she was admitted to the hospital along with the newborn at around 5 PM yesterday.
In the government hospital, an undefined woman became friendly with the couple and stayed with them some time after their admission. At around 6 AM today, she persuaded them to go and apply for the financial assistance under the Mamata Yojana of the Odisha government.
While the couple was going to apply for the financial assistance, the unknown woman pretended to help them and managed to take the newborn on her arms and fled from the spot.
