Narcotics seized from jails, sub-jails during raids in Odisha

Padampur: The Odisha police on Sunday have conducted surprise raids at the Bargarh jail and Padampur and Sohela sub-jails following illegal activities inside the prisons.

As per sources, multiple teams were formed across these jails and subjails to curb the inflow of these narcotics items inside the prisons.

The raid was conducted following the directives of Bargarh Superitendent of Police (SP) and seized several quantities of narcotics subtances such as cigarettes, tobacco from different wards.

The seized materials have been sent for examination and an inquiry has been initiated to find how the contraband items entered the jails and subjails.  And anyone found guilty will not be spared and strict action will be taken against the culprit.

Recently, on thursday, two dreaded Bihar criminals escaped from Cuttack’s high-security Choudwar Circle Jail. The Commissionerate Police on Friday released their photographs and announced a cash reward of Rs 50,000. The duo has been declared ‘most wanted’.

Both had been lodged in Choudwar Jail after being arrested in connection with the sensational jewellery shop heist at Panikoili area in Jajpur on January 4. The duo opened fire during the loot, resulting in the deaths of two people.
