Monsoon further withdraws from some more parts of Odisha, yellow warning for rain issued for 3 days

The southwest monsoon has further withdrawn from some more parts of Odisha, informed the India Meteorological Department (IMD) today.

Bhubaneswar: The southwest monsoon has further withdrawn from some more parts of Odisha, informed the India Meteorological Department (IMD) today.

The line of withdrawal of southwest monsoon now passes through 14°N/72°E, Karwar, Kalaburagi, Nizamabad, Kanker, Chandbali, 21.0°N/ 90.0°E, 22.0°N/ 95.0°E & 23.0°N/ 98.0°E, said the weather department adding that Southwest monsoon has further withdrawn from some more parts of Odisha and Chhattisgarh and remaining parts of northeastern states.

It further said that conditions are favourable for further withdrawal of southwest monsoon from remaining parts of country during next 2 days. Simultaneously with the setting in of easterly and northeasterly winds over southern peninsular India and south and adjoining central Bay of Bengal, the Northeast Monsoon rainfall activity is likely to commence over south east peninsular region during the same period.

However, IMD also issued yellow warning for rain in some districts of the state for three days:

Day 1 (Valid upto 8.30 AM of October 15):

  • YELLOW WARNING: Thunderstorm with lightning accompanied with gusty surface wind speed reaching 30-40 kmph very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Ganjam, Gajapati, Kandhamal, Kalahandi, Rayagada, Koraput, Nabarangpur and Malkangiri.

Day 2 (Valid from 8.30 AM of October 15 to 8.30 AM of October 16):

  • YELLOW WARNING: Thunderstorm with lightning accompanied with gusty surface wind speed reaching 30-40 kmph very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Koraput and Malkangiri.

Day 3 (Valid from 8.30 AM of October 16 to 8.30 AM of October 17):

  • YELLOW WARNING: Thunderstorm with lightning accompanied with gusty surface wind speed reaching 30-40 kmph very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Koraput and Malkangiri.
