Mo Bus renamed as ‘Ama Bus’ to be rolled out in 8 districts of Odisha, check list here

Bhubaneswar: The Capital Region Urban Transport (CRUT) is in talks to launch the ‘Ama Bus’ service in 8 more districts in Odisha as per a press release. The Mo Bus services revamped as ‘Ama Bus’ will be launched in Angul, Jharsuguda, Jajpur, Keonjhar, Baripada (Mayurbhanj), Jeypore(Koraput), Balasore and Rayagada.

The launching of Ama Bus in 8 more districts was finalised in the 49th Board meeting of CRUT on Thursday, held under the chairmanship of Anu Garg, Development Commissioner and CRUT Chairperson. Apart from rolling out the Ama Bus in 8 places, the agenda of the meeting also discussed operative strategies. The meeting revolved around the safety, service quality and accessibility across the state’s public transport network.

The Key highlights of the meeting include the following:

    1. Accident prevention measures:
      • Electric buses to ply at 35 km/hr
      • Diesel buses in city routes at 40 km/hr and in Intercity highways at 50 km/hr
      • Regular training session on safe driving practices, behaviour training, e-bus operation and first-aid practices for the employees (prime focus on drivers and conductors)
      • Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) and Dash Cam implementation with 10 agencies installing devices in eight buses.
      • Accident Review Committee: The State Transport Authority to investigate the accidents.
    2. Toll-free assistance Number: 18005700218 has been introduced for assistance between 6 am to 10 pm
    3. SOP for Hiring of crew members: Standard Operating Procedure for hiring and training of Captains and guides. All new captains to complete training at the HMV Driving Training Institute as a prerequisite for recruitment.
    4. Pass System to be extended to other places including Rourkela, Sambalpur and Berhampur.
    5. KPI-Based Incentive system (Key Performance Indicator) based reward system to be introduced to incentivize top-performing captains and guides.
