Man axes mother-in-law to death in Odisha’s Kandhamal district
A mother-in-law lost her life after being attacked with an axe by her son-in-law following a family dispute in Baliguda.
Baliguda: In a shocking incident, a man allegedly axed his mother in law to death in Kandhamal district of Odisha yesterday night. The incident took place in the Kudupakia village under Sirtiguda Panchayat under K Nuagaon Police Station limits.
The deceased woman has been identified as Peti Mallick and the accused has been identified as Surat Pradhan.
As per the information received, a verbal spat erupted between the accused and his wife. Soon, it took an ugly turn and the husband attacked his wife. Irritated, he took out an axe and attempted to attack her. However, meanwhile his mother-in-law intervened and came to the rescue of her daughter and the man attacked her with the axe.
Accordingly, she sustained critical injury. Her family members rushed her to Baliguda hospital immediately. However, as her health condition deteriorated, she was then shifted to the District Headquarter hospital in Phulbani.
After receiving information about the crime, K Nuagaon Police rushed to the spot and initiated investigation.
The accused fled the scene after committing the crime and still at large.
Further probe of the case is underway while the accused is yet to be arrested.
