Malkangiri: Junior Engineer Nihar Ranjan Sarkar arrested by Odsiha Vigilance in DA case

After thorough search, inventory and further enquiry, the income, expenditure and assets of Nihar Ranjan Sarkar were calculated and he was found in possession of disproportionate assets which were 444% in excess of his known sources of income.

Malkangiri: A junior engineer has been arrested today in Malkangiri district of Odisha in DA case. He had procured property to the tune of 444 percent of his known source of income including a triple storeyed palatial building, 8 valuable plots and other properties.

The accused Junior Engineer has been identified as Nihar Ranjan Sarkar, the JE of Malkangiri Block.

As per reports, today i.e. on 27.12.2025 Nihar Ranjan Sarkar, Junior Engineer, Malkangiri Block, Dist-Malkangiri was arrested by Odisha Vigilance and forwarded to the Court of Special Judge, Vigilance, Jeypore for possession of disproportionate assets (DA) to the tune of 444% of his known sources of income, which he could not account for satisfactorily.

In this connection, Koraput Vigilance PS Case No.40 dated 27.12.2025 was registered against Nihar Ranjan Sarkar, and his spouse U/s 13(2) r/w 13(1)(b)/12 PC (Amendment) Act,2018.

During house searches, the following movable and immovable assets worth crores were unearthed in the name of Nihar Ranjan Sarkar, Junior Engineer and his family members;

1) One triple storeyed palatial building with area approx 7900 Sqft. At Jayanagar, Malkangiri Town worth over Rs.2 Crore.

2) 8 valuable plots including 6 in posh area of Malkangiri town & 2 in Mathili.

3) Cash Rs.2,11,800/-.

4) Bank & Insurance deposits and investment in Share Market worth

Rs.26.78 Lakhs.

5) 2 four wheelers (Hyundai AURA & Maruti Swift DZIRE) and 2 two wheelers worth around Rs.14.87 Lakhs.

6) Household articles worth around Rs.19.34 Lakhs.
