Bhubaneswar: A low-pressure system is expected to form over the Bay of Bengal in the next 24 hours, potentially developing into a depression in the central part of the south Bay of Bengal and adjacent west-central Bay of Bengal within 48 hours, according to the Bhubaneswar Regional Meteorological Center.

Under its influence, Odisha is likely to experience light to moderate rainfall over the next 5-7 days. Some districts, including Puri, Khordha, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Gajapati, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, and Rayagada, may witness light to moderate rainfall in the next 24 hours.

In the past 24 hours, Keonjhar district recorded the maximum rainfall of 79 mm.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has not issued any cyclone warnings for the state, and residents are advised not to panic.
