Low pressure area over Bay of Bengal develops into depression, heavy rain in Odisha predicted
Rain in Odisha to lash out as the low pressure developed into a depression over the Bay of Bengal. Dussehra is predicted to be wet this year.
Bhubaneswar: The low pressure area over the Bay of Bengal has developed into a depression. It has turned into a depression near the coast of South Odisha-North Andhra Pradesh in the northwest and west-central Bay of Bengal. The IMD has predicted heavy rain in Odisha ahead of Durga Puja.
This depression is moving westwards. This morning it is likely to cross the coast of South Odisha and North Andhra Pradesh near Gopalpur between Puri-Kalingapatam. This information has been given by the Regional Meteorological Center, Bhubaneswar.
Due to this, there is heavy rain in the state. The Meteorological Department has issued a red warning for Malkangiri, Koraput and Kalahandi districts till 8:30 am today.
Orange warning has been issued for 14 districts of coastal and South Odisha. Yellow alert has been issued for all the remaining districts.
Similarly, there is a yellow alert for 7 districts for today. There is a possibility of extensive damage due to heavy rain. The state government has made preparations to deal with this. The Chief Minister reviewed the preparations yesterday. Leave of government officials has been canceled in 17 districts that are most affected.
