Puri: Lord Jagannath to be adorned with Radha Damodar besha for Kartik month, here’s what the deities wear
The Lords will be adorned the Radha Damodar besha for one month. During this time, devotees flock to Srimandir to witness the divine deities.
Puri: The Kartik month rituals have begun in Srimandir of Puri. For this, the Lords will be adorned with the special Radha damodar besha and offered the Baladhupa.
In the Kartik month, the Lords are adorned with the Radhadamodar besha. During this holy month of Kartika, the Lords are offered Baladhupa.
After the Sakala dhupa, for Baladhupa – desiccated coconut, Dobhaja, Lia, Ada, Khai, coconut, Khuda, Chaulia are offered. Also fruits like apple, orange, cucumber, coconut water are offered to the Lords.
As per popular beliefs, in the Kartika month Lord Jagannath (Vishnu) is worshipped as Damodara, thus it is called the Radha Damodar besha.
In this besha, nose ring made of flowers, Chita and Adharmala along with other gold ornaments are also decorated to the Lords.
Along with this, Sri Jagannath and Balabhadra wear Trikachha, gold bracelets in both hands, bamboo and cotton turbans on the head. Similarly, a silver moon on the tip of the turban, Kundali in the ears, Odiani girdle on the waist, golden Ghagada on the neck, Tilak on the forehead, Ramanandi cheeta etc.
The Srimandir deities are adorned with golden ornaments. Meanwhile, extensive arrangements have been made by the administration for the disciplined conduct of the Thakurs and the disciplined darshan of the devotees.
