Bhubaneswar: Odisha Leader of Opposition (LoP) and BJD president Naveen Patnaik today condemned the deadly attack on party worker Rashmi Parija in Jagatsinghpur.
Taking to his X handle, Naveen said, “I strongly condemn the organized and deadly attack on Rashmi Parija, a worker of the Biju Janata Dal, in Jagatsinghpur. Such incidents of increasing violence against women are absolutely unacceptable.”
“The atmosphere of unrest in peaceful Odisha is causing panic among the public. Anti-social individuals are not afraid to commit crimes. Law and order are being disrupted,” he added.
“The government should take strict action against the culprits and maintain public trust in the legal system,” the former CM demanded.
Meanwhile, a delegation of the conch party met DGP Y.B Khurania and submitted him a memorandum urging strict legal action against those involved in the brutal assault on social activist.
According to the memorandum, a group of individuals allegedly forced their way into Parija’s house at around 9.30 PM yesterday, used abusive language, and physically attacked her.
She was reportedly dragged by her hair and beaten with a wooden stick, suffering serious head injuries and being admitted to Jagatsinghpur District Hospital for treatment.
