Sambalpur: Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla along with Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma and Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan attended the Marwar Mahotsav in Sambalpur last evening. The trio addressed the closing ceremony of the Mahotsav.
The Mahotsav, which was organized by the Marwari Yuva Manch (MYM), Khetrajpur Branch, in collaboration with the Rajasthan Foundation, Odisha, showcased India’s cultural essence where Rajasthan’s royal heritage and Haryana’s energetic folk traditions meets Odisha’s artistic soul.
The theme of the Marwar Mahotsav 2025 was “Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat” (One India, Great India).
In his address the Lok Sabha Speaker said that this festival brings to life the spirit of “One India–Excellent India,” is a powerful symbol of India’s cultural unity. This five-day event provided the fortunate opportunity to meet thousands of my fellow Rajasthani kin, he mentioned.
He further said that a deep similarity is evident in the culture, spiritual consciousness, life values, and traditions of both Rajasthan and Odisha.
“As a Marwari, it is a matter of pride that the Marwari community has kept alive the tradition of service, sacrifice, and dedication not only in the country but across the entire world. Service is not merely work for us, but a tradition. Wherever a Marwari family settles—be it a village in the country or a land abroad—service becomes its identity. The Marwari community, while maintaining ties with its birthplace Rajasthan, has always earned a respectable place in its workplace through the culture of service and the power of hard work. Today, there is a need to further strengthen these service traditions established by our ancestors and pass them on to future generations,” he wrote on his X post.
Likewise, the Rajasthan Chief Minister said, “This vibrant tradition of cultural and historical ties between Odisha and Rajasthan strengthens the spirit of ‘One India, Best India’. The Marwari community has created a distinct identity here through their hard work and dedication.”
Similarly, Dharmendra Pradhan, who is also the MP of Sambalpur, said that the Marwar Mahotsav reflects the dream of Prime Minister Narendra Modi of ‘Ek Bharat, Shreshtha Bharat’.
“At present, Sambalpur is emerging as a beautiful symbol of cultural heritage and modern progress. The Marwar Mahotsav has provided a great opportunity to highlight our cultural heritage. Thanks to Marwari Yuva Manch (MYM), Khetrajpur Branch and Rajasthan Foundation, Odisha, for this effort.
