Jilted lover consumes poison after beating minor girl to death in Nayagarh
In a shocking incident, a youth consumed poison reportedly after beating a minor girl to death at Magarabandha village under Saranakula police station limits of the district today.
Nayagarh: In a shocking incident, a youth consumed poison reportedly after beating a minor girl to death at Magarabandha village under Saranakula police station limits of the district today.
As alleged by the father of the deceased girl, one Purna Nayak of the same village was prosing the girl for the last two years. Despite her repeated refusal to accept his proposal, Nayak was forcing her to get into a relationship with him.
After learning about the incident, the girl’s family members reportedly informed Purna’s father Golekh Nayak at least five times requesting him to advice Purna to stay away from the girl and not to harass her. However, Purna allegedly continued to propos her on every occasion he got.
Irate over her repeated refusal, Purna beat the girl mercilessly after meeting her near the village temple today and forced her to drink poison causing her death on the spot. Later, he too consumed the poison and became critical.
Some villagers, who noticed Purna and the girl, rushed both of them to the Nayagarh District Headquarter Hospital (DHH) for treatment.
Tension prevailed in the government hospital after the tragic news got spread in the locality and the family members of both the girl and youth reached the hospital and started accusing each other.
Later, Purna was shifted to the AIIMS hospital in Bhubaneswar as his condition deteriorated further. Unfortunately, he too succumbed while undergoing treatment.
Meanwhile, the local police is said to have started an investigation into the matter.
