Internet services resumes in Cuttack after 48 hours

Internet service in Cuttack Municipal Corporation (CMC), Cuttack Development Authority (CDA) and Cuttack Bayalis Mouza areas resumed after 48 hours.

Cuttack: In what can be considered as a major relief for the residents of Cuttack City especially in Cuttack Municipal Corporation (CMC), Cuttack Development Authority (CDA) and Cuttack Bayalis Mouza areas, the internet services resumed after 48 hours.

The district administration had initially suspended the internet services in CMC, CDA and Cuttack Bayalis Mouza areas for 24 hours from 7 PM of October 5 to 7 PM October 6 in the wake of the violence and arson in the city that took place during Goddess Durga’s idol immersion procession on Saturday night (October 9).

The district administration also has imposed a ban on the use of WhatsApp, Facebook, Instagram, Snapchat, and other social media in the areas mentioned above.

Later, the district administration yesterday extended the internet suspension by another 24 hours i.e till 7 PM today. However, as the situation is limping back to normalcy gradually, the internet services was restored from 7 PM onwards today.

The restoration of the internet services has made the local residents of the Silver City happy as they were some what were completely cut-off from the rest of the world. Apart from ban on use of internet and social medias, a 36-hour curfew was imposed to maintain peace and harmony in the locality. The curfew came into force from 10 PM on Sunday and concluded at 10 AM on Tuesday (today). As no incidents of indiscipline was reported during the 36-hour curfew hours, the district administration lifted the curfew restriction earlier today.
