Internet services in Cuttack suspended for another 24 hours
The internet service in Cuttack Municipal Corporation (CMC), Cuttack Development Authority (CDA) and Cuttack Bayalis Mouza areas has been suspended by another 24 hours.
Cuttack: The internet service in Cuttack Municipal Corporation (CMC), Cuttack Development Authority (CDA) and Cuttack Bayalis Mouza areas has been suspended for another 24 hours, informed the District Administration today.
It is to be noted here that the district administration had suspended the internet service in CMC, CDA and Cuttack Bayalis Mouza areas from 7 PM yesterday to 7 PM today in the wake of the violence and arson in the city. Besides, use of WhatsApp, Facebook, Instagram, Snapchat, and other social media services were also banned in these areas.
However, the district administration decided to extend the internet suspension by another 24 hours i.e till 7 PM tomorrow with the aim to maintain maintain law and order in these areas.
The ban on internet services and use of social media platforms has been taken to desist from spreading false and provocative posts related to the violence on social media in other parts of the state.
The state government also has ordered a 36-hour curfew in 13 police station areas such as Dargah Bazaar, Mangalabag, Purighat, Lalbag, Badambadi, Jagatpur, Bayalis (42) Mouza, and others and appealed the pubic to maintain peace and harmony in the city.
The state government has deployed Rapid Action Force (RAF), Border Security Force (BSF) and Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) personnel and over 60 platoons of police forces to assist local law enforcement.
Till now, three cases have been registered while a total of eight people have been arrested.
