The intense coldwave condition in Odisha will continue for seven more days, predicted the India Meteorological Department (IMD) while issuing yellow warning for dense fog.

Bhubaneswar: The intense coldwave condition in Odisha will continue for seven more days, predicted the India Meteorological Department (IMD) while issuing yellow warning for dense fog.

According to IMD, the minimum night temperature in the state is being recorded between 4 and 5 degree Celsius. Yesterday, Koraput shivered at 5.5 °C, it informed.

Likewise, Daringbadi, which is considered as the Kashmir of Odisha, witnessed a temperature 7 degrees while G Udaygiri 7.4 degrees. Similarly, temperature plunged to 8.5 degrees in Phulbani, the district headquarter town of Kandhamal district.

The weather department also issued the following warning for four days:

Day 1 (Valid from 8.30 AM of December 23 to 8.30 AM of December 24):

  • Yellow Warning: Dense fog very likely to occur during early hours/morning hours at isolated pockets in districts of Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Kandhamal, Balangir and Sonepur.
  • Shallow to moderate fog very likely to occur during early hours/morning hours at isolated pockets in the districts of Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Sambalpur, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Jagatsingpur, Balangir, Koraput, Kendrapada and Sonepur.
  • Dry weather very likely to prevail over the districts of Odisha.

Day 2 (Valid from 8.30 AM of December 24 to 8.30 AM of December 25):

  • Yellow Warning: Dense fog very likely to occur during early hours/morning hours at isolated pockets in the districts of Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Keonjhar, Sambalpur and Sonepur.
  • Likewise, shallow to moderate fog very likely to occur during early hours/morning hours at isolated pockets in the districts of Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Sambalpur, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Jagatsingpur, Balangir, Koraput, Kendrapada and Sonepur.
  • Dry weather very likely to prevail over the districts of Odisha.

Day 3 (Valid from 8.30 AM of December 25 to 8.30 AM of December 26):

  • Yellow Warning: Dense fog very likely to occur during early hours/morning hours at isolated pockets in the districts of Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Keonjhar, Sambalpur and Sonepur.
  • Shallow to moderate fog very likely to occur during early hours/morning hours at isolated pockets in the districts of Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Sambalpur, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Jagatsingpur, Bolangir, Koraput, Kendrapada and Sonepur.
  • Dry weather very likely to prevail over the districts of Odisha.

Day 4 (Valid from 8.30 AM of December 26 to 8.30 AM of December 27):

  • Yellow Warning: Dense fog very likely to occur during early hours/morning hours at isolated pockets in the districts of Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Keonjhar, Sambalpur and Sonepur.
  • Dry weather very likely to prevail over the districts of Odisha.

Shallow to moderate fog very likely to occur during early hours/morning hours at isolated pockets in the districts of Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Sambalpur, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Jagatsingpur, Balangir, Koraput, Kendrapada and Sonepur.
