India’s first bullet train to roll out by August 2027: Railway Minister
The train will operate at speeds of up to 320 kmph, reducing travel time between Mumbai and Ahmedabad to just 1 hour and 58 minutes.
New Delhi: India’s first bullet train is set to roll out on August 15, 2027, announced Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw on Thursday.
According to the information, the high-speed rail service will initially connect Surat to Bilimora, covering a distance of 50 km, and eventually expand to cover the 508 km Mumbai-Ahmedabad corridor by 2029.
The train will operate at speeds of up to 320 kmph, reducing travel time between Mumbai and Ahmedabad to just 1 hour and 58 minutes. The project is being developed in collaboration with Japan and is expected to transform inter-city mobility in India.
Construction is underway, with significant progress on viaducts, bridges, tunnels, and stations. The National High-Speed Rail Corporation Ltd has completed 329 km of viaduct and 404 km of pier work, with 17 river bridges and 5 PSC bridges already built.
