Gold worth Rs 250 crores sold in Odisha on the occasion of Dhanteras amid skyrocketing prices

Bhubaneswar: Gold in Odisha sold for Rs 250 crore on Dhanteras despite the skyrocketing price of gold. People rushed to jewellery shops to buy gold, as it is regarded auspicious to buy gold on Dhanteras.

Every year on Dhanteras the gold prices surge due to demand and this year is no exception. The gold price in Odisha stood at Rs 1,21,883 per 10 grams.

A huge rush was witnessed in several jewellery shops to buy gold. As per reports, jewellery shops in Bhubaneswar, Cuttack, Sambalpur, Berhampur, Rourkela and Puri.

It is widely believed that buying precious metals is auspicious and Maa Lakshmi blesses them. Thus people have an interest in buying the precious metals like Gold, silver and others metals.

It is worth mentioning that the year-on-year sale of the metals in Odisha rose by 18 per cent. In simple terms, 18 per cent more gold was sold this year in comparison to 2024.
