Ganja smuggling inside cricket bat in Ganjam: 2 WB men held

Berhampur: In a clever attempt to evade detection, two youths from West Bengal’s Murshidabad district hid ganja inside cricket bats, but were caught by the Government Railway Police (GRP) at Odisha’s Berhampur railway station. The duo was arrested with over 17 kg of ganja concealed in 23 backpacks and 10 cricket bats.

The GRP, assisted by the Railway Protection Force (RPF) and Crime Investigation Branch (CIB), intercepted the youths who were carrying a large bundle of luggage along with plastic cricket bats. The authorities seized the contraband and arrested the accused.

The GRP is now investigating the source of the ganja and the intended destination.
