Bhubaneswar: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) today said that the upper air cyclonic circulation over south Andaman Sea and adjoining southeast Bay of Bengal extending upto 1.5 km above mean sea level persists. Under its influence, a low pressure area is likely to form over southeast Bay of Bengal around October 21.
The low pressure area is likely to move west-northwestwards and intensify further into a depression over the central parts of south Bay of Bengal and adjoining west-central Bay of Bengal during subsequent 48 hours, forecasted the weather department.
The IMD also issued rain warning in Odisha for seven days:
Day 1 (Valid upto 8.30 AM of October 20):
- YELLOW WARNING: Thunderstorm with lightning accompanied with gusty surface wind speed reaching 30-40 kmph likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Gajapati, Rayagada, Koraput, Malkangiri, Kalahandi, Kandhamal and Nabarangpur.
- Light to moderate rain or Thunderstorm very likely to occur at a few places over the districts of Ganjam, Gajapati, Rayagada, Kalahandi, Kandhamal and at one or two places over the districts of Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Angul, Boudh, Dhenkanal, Nabarangpur, Malkangiri, Koraput and Nuapada and dry weather likely to prevail over the rest districts of Odisha.
- Shallow to moderate fog very likely to occur during early morning hours at one or two places over the districts of Kalahandi and Kandhamal.

- YELLOW WARNING: Thunderstorm with lightning accompanied with gusty surface wind speed reaching 30-40 kmph likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Gajapati, Malkangiri, Rayagada and Koraput.
- Light to moderate rain or thunderstorm very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Gajapati, Angul, Dhenkanal, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Boudh, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Nabarangpur, Rayagada, Koraput and Malkangiri and dry weather likely to prevail over the rest districts of Odisha.
- Shallow to moderate fog very likely to occur during early morning hours at one or two places over the districts of Kalahandi and Kandhamal.

- YELLOW WARNING: Thunderstorm with lightning accompanied with gusty surface wind speed reaching 30-40 kmph likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Rayagada, Ganjam, Gajapati.
- Light to moderate rain or Thunderstorm very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of South Odisha and dry weather likely to prevail over the districts of North Odisha.
Day 4 (Valid from 8.30 AM of October 22 to 8.30 AM of October 23):
- Light to moderate rain or Thunderstorm likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Ganjam, Gajapati, Rayagada, Koraput, Malkangiri and Nabarangpur and dry weather likely to prevail over the rest districts of Odisha.
Day 5 (Valid from 8.30 AM of October 23 to 8.30 AM of October 24):
- Light to moderate rain or Thunderstorm likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Gajapati, Rayagada, Koraput and Malkangiri and dry weather likely to prevail over the rest districts of Odisha.
Day 6 (Valid from 8.30 AM of October 24 to 8.30 AM of October 25):
- Light to moderate rain or Thunderstorm likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Gajapati, Rayagada, Koraput and Malkangiri and dry weather likely to prevail over the rest districts of Odisha.
Day 7 (Valid from 8.30 AM of October 25 to 8.30 AM of October 26):
- Light to moderate rain or thunderstorm likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Gajapati, Rayagada, Koraput and Malkangiri and dry weather likely to prevail over the rest districts of Odisha.
