Former forest range officer arrested for taking bribe of Rs 30,000 in Ganjam

A retired forest range officer has been arrested for taking bribe of Rs 30,000 from a complainant for not taking legal action against him.

Digapahandi: Odisha Vigilance arrests former forest range Officer, Digapahandi of Ganjam district for taking bribe. He has been sent to jail for demanding and taking bribe.

The Vigilance sleuths on 23.09.2025, nabbed Kishore Kumar Nayak, Former Forest Range Officer, Digapahandi, Dist-Ganjam (Retired). He was charge sheeted by Odisha Vigilance U/s 13(2) r/w 13(1)(d)/7 PC Act, 1988 for demanding and taking bribe Rs.30,000/- from a complainant to not take legal action against him for seizure of timber from his house, was convicted by Hon’ble Special Judge, Vigilance, Berhampur and sentenced to undergo rigorous imprisonment for a period of 4 years and fine.

Further, the convict Kishore Kumar Nayak, Former Forest Range Officer, Digapahandi, Dist-Ganjam was sent to jail custody to serve his sentence.

Odisha Vigilance will now move the competent authority for stoppage of pension of Sri Kishore Kumar Nayak, Former Forest Range Officer, Digapahandi, Dist-Ganjam (Retired) following his conviction.
