Former Biramitrapur MLA George Tirkey passes away at 67 from prolonged illness
George Tirkey, had served as the MLA of Biramitrapur Constituency in Sundargarh district for 4 times and was a known face in Odisha politics.
Bhubaneswar: Former Birmitrapur MLA George Tirkey of Sundargarh district passed away today. He passed away at the age of 67. He had been ill for the past few months. He was undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Bhubaneswar. He died while undergoing treatment. His last rites will be performed in his ancestral village Jhunmur.
George Tirkey was a worker of the Samata Kranti Dal in the Odisha Rajniti. He served as an MLA in the Odisha Legislative Assembly four times. In the Odisha Legislative Assembly elections held in 1995, 2000, 2009 and 2014, he was elected to the 11th, 12th, 14th and 15th Odisha Legislative Assembly from Birmitrapur Legislative Assembly constituency respectively. Earlier, he was active in the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha.
