Forest Range Officer Rajendra Samantray possessed DA to the tune of 232% of his known sources
Rajendra Kumar Samantray, the Forest Range Officer of Rahama Forest Range in Jagatsinghpur was arrested by Odisha Vigilance and forwarded to the Court of Special Judge, Vigilance, Cuttack for possession of disproportionate assets (DA) to the tune of 232% of his known sources of income, which he could not account for satisfactorily.
Jagatsinghpur: Rajendra Kumar Samantray, the Forest Range Officer of Rahama Forest Range in Jagatsinghpur was arrested by Odisha Vigilance and forwarded to the Court of Special Judge, Vigilance, Cuttack for possession of disproportionate assets (DA) to the tune of 232% of his known sources of income, which he could not account for satisfactorily.
In this connection, Cuttack Vigilance PS Case No.37 dated 21.12.2025 was registered against the Forest Range Officer and his spouse U/s 13(2) r/w 13(1)(b)/12 PC (Amendment) Act,2018.
During house searches, the following movable and immovable assets worth crores were unearthed in the name of Rajendra Kumar Samantray, and his family members;
- One triple storeyed building with area approx 5500 sqft located at Chatara, Jagatsinghpur.
- One double storeyed building with area 2500 sqft. at native village, Samantarayapur, PO-Dondo, Dist-Jagatsinghpur.
- 5 nos of valuable plots including 2 plots on the outskirts of Cuttack town & 3 plots in Jagatsinghpur town.
- Cash of Rs.3,69,660.
- Bank, Postal & Insurance deposits worth Rs.80,68,662.
- Gold jewellery 250 gms.
- 1 four wheeler (Bolero) & 2 two wheelers.
- Household articles worth around Rs.14 Lakhs
After thorough search, inventory and further enquiry, the income, expenditure and assets of the Forest Range Officer were calculated and he was found in possession of disproportionate assets which were 232% in excess of his known sources of income.
Investigation of the case is in progress.
