In a heart-wrenching incident, a five-year-old boy had to spend entire winter night in a forest road as his parents died reportedly after consuming poison while returning home in Deogarh district of Odisha.
Deogarh: In a heart-wrenching incident, a five-year-old boy had to spend entire winter night in a forest road as his parents died reportedly after consuming poison while returning home in Deogarh district of Odisha.
One Dushmant Majhi of Jiantapali village, his wife Rinkey Majhi and five-year-old son were returning home from Rinkey’s parental house on Saturday evening.
On their way to Jiantapali village, Dushmant and Rinkey had an argument allegedly over a family dispute in a secluded forest area under the Kundheigola police station limits of the district.
Soon, Dushmant stopped the bike following which both the couple walked into a nearby forest and consumed poison in front of their minor son. While Dushmant died on the spot, his wife Rinkey became critical and was battling for life.
Not knowing what to do and how to save his parents, the five-year-old boy spent the entire winter night alongside them before alerting some passers-by this morning.
Some locals also rushed to the spot after getting information and alerted the Khairapali police outpost under Kundheigola police station.
Immediately, the couple along with their minor son was rescued and admitted at Chhendipada hospital in Angul district. Doctors declared Dushmant dead and sent the body for post-mortem after intimating to the police.
Later, Rinkey also breathed her last while undergoing treatment in a critical condition. However, their son is still kept under observation.
Meanwhile, the tragic incident has become a topic of discussion in the locality. Police probe is also underway.
