Father-son missing following landslide in Odisha’s Gajapati district

Following the landslide the road between Rayagarh to Nuagarh and Rayagarh to R. Udaygiri have been cut off.

Paralakhemundi: A man and his son are missing following a landslide in the Gajapati district of Odisha on Thursday. It has been suspected that the two have been buried under the soil following the landslide.

The incident took place near Pekat under Rayagarh block of Gajapati district. Following the landslide the road between Rayagarh to Nuagarh and Rayagarh to R. Udaygiri have been cut off.

The missing father and son have been identified as Kartika Shabara (70) and his son Rajib Sabar.

It is to be noted that incessant rain has wreaked havoc in Gajapati district of Odisha on Thursday. Low-pressure backed rainfall is continuing in Gajapati district. As a result, normal life has been affected. Under the influence of low pressure, while the rainfall started last night, the amount of rainfall has increased since this morning.

Similarly, due to the presence of hills near Adehi of Gumma block, communication between Adehi and Kujasing has been disrupted. Traffic has been hampered due to the washed away bridge on Ashraygarh-Burudingi road. Flood water is rising in the Kaynpur canal of Rayagarh block. As a result, communication to Mahendragiri has been disrupted.
