Sambalpur: The Sambalpur city in Odisha is witnessing a complete shutdown today (Friday) again as farmers have called for a 12-hour bandh over the token issue. While the national highway remains open, all other activities in the city have come to a standstill, with shops, markets, vehicles, and motorbikes being blocked by protesting farmers.
According to the information received, farmers had previously blocked the national highway twice, but have decided against doing so this time around.
However, they are picketing the entire city, effectively bringing daily life to a halt. Emergency services are the only exception, operating as usual.
The bandh has received support from various organizations, including the BJD and Congress parties.
Today’s protests are not limited to Sambalpur city, with farmers also blocking areas like Kuchinda, Rairakhol, Jamankira, Padiabahal, and Goshala in the district.
