Bhubaneswar: Leader of Opposition (LoP) and BJD President Naveen Patnaik has expressed deep concern over the reported incident of gang rape of minors in the heart of Bhubaneswar, describing it as extremely disturbing and a matter of grave public importance.

Patnaik stated that such incidents indicate a serious deterioration in public safety and raise alarming questions about the law and order situation in the state capital.

He noted that criminal activities appear to be becoming increasingly brazen, creating fear among citizens and eroding public confidence in governance.

“The inability to prevent crimes–particularly those targeting women and children–underscores serious lapses in ensuring a safe environment in the capital city,” Patnaik said.

Patnaik stressed that the safety of women and children must be treated as a non-negotiable priority and  urged the authorities to take immediate and sustained steps to restore public trust and ensure that Bhubaneswar remains a safe city for all.
