Briefing the media persons at Lok Seva Bhawan Convention Centre today, the Chief Minister said that it is clear from the Hyderabad Meet that investors have confidence in Odisha. After holding discussions with various industrialists and investors for two days, the Chief Minister said that the outcome was very encouraging and said, ‘This experience is very satisfying for me’.
Speaking on the occasion of the discussions with various industrialists during this two-day visit, the Chief Minister said that the industrial journey of Odisha has become very strong today, from the vast potential in the industrial sector to its real implementation. He said that the successful Prime Minister Narendra Modi is at the root of Odisha’s success in the industrial sector. His magical touch is the real secret of our successful journey in industry.
It is worth noting that during this visit, the Chief Minister led a massive investment campaign to Hyderabad. During the two-day event, the Odisha government held 73 high-level meetings and 2 sectorial round-table discussions. The first round-table discussion was based on the pharmaceutical sector and was held with eight major pharma companies. The second round-table discussion was held with representatives of 27 companies related to the defense sector.
The Chief Minister said that pharma and defense, these two sectors, are currently insignificant in Odisha; these two roundtable discussions have attracted investors in these two sectors. He said that he himself had one-to-one discussions with 38 industrialists in the two days. The meeting discussed investment opportunities in sectors like pharmaceuticals and medical devices, defence manufacturing, renewable energy equipment, electronics and IT, data centres, textiles and technical textiles and advanced manufacturing.
The Chief Minister himself presented his vision for a prosperous Odisha by 2036 and a roadmap for the development of manufacturing and services sectors. The Chief Minister said that a new milestone is going to be set in our roadmap for industrialisation in the coming days. Enterprise Odisha will be held in Rourkela on January 28th and 29th. Along with this, an industry conclave is also planned in Kolkata.
He said that to make investment in Odisha easier and simpler, to improve the ease of doing business, about 23 amendments are being made in various laws. Many old laws, which are no longer needed, are being amended and prepared to meet the needs of the present time, he said.
Majhi further said that in the next three months, our main focus will be to ground the projects so that all the proposals that have been made can be turned into reality. He said that if the projects are implemented at a fast pace, the confidence of investors will further increase.
During the visit, the CM and senior officials also visited Bharat Dynamics Limited (BDL), a leading company in the field of defense equipment manufacturing in Hyderabad. The aim of the visit was to further deepen Odisha’s ties with India’s defense and aerospace manufacturing ecosystem.
The Chief Minister said that the defense manufacturing ecosystem will also be developed in Odisha. For this, emphasis will be placed on MSME, startups, skilled human resources and precision manufacturing. He said that preparations are being made to manufacture missile components in Odisha.
A total of 13 Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) were signed during the visit, along with investment opportunities worth Rs 27,650 crore. This will create 15,905 jobs. In addition, 9 Investment Intent Filings (IIFs) were also done. This has created investment opportunities of over Rs 39,131 crore and employment opportunities for 40,435 people.
Overall, the Hyderabad Roadshow has generated investment commitments of Rs 66,781 crore, which has created 56,340 jobs, making it one of the most successful investment promotion programmes led by the Odisha Government.
The Chief Minister said that since 2025, projects worth Rs 4,38,224 crore have been sanctioned in Odisha till now and this has created 2,55,817 jobs. He further said that in the last 18 months, industrial projects worth Rs 2.10 lakh crore have been inaugurated and laid. This has ensured 1,63,725 jobs. During this period, various sectoral industrial conferences like Pharma Conclave, Textile Conclave etc. have been held in Odisha. Odisha signed two MoUs at the Semicon Conclave held in Delhi. Therefore, our focus on industrialization continues, the Chief Minister said.
