Elephant attack in Dhenkanal district of Odisha, 56 year-old-man dies
In an elephant attack in Dhenkanal district of Odisha a 56 year-old-man has been trampled to death, said reports
Dhenkanal: An elephant attack has taken place in Hindola forest of Dhenkanal district in Odisha and has claimed one life. The deceased has been identified as Narottam Behera of Khajuriakata in Balimi village. He was said to be around 56 years.
According to reports, two people were returning from their defecation in the early hours of the morning when they did not spot the elephant in the bush near the new dam. The elephant killed Narottam. The other youth nearby ran away in agony and informed the villagers. Forest department and police personnel have reached the spot.
Elephant attacks in Hindola have become a routine incident. Incidents of elephant attacks are coming to light in the morning. If the government or the forest department does not take concrete steps for this, people will be afraid to come out of their homes in the coming days and their farming will be completely ruined.
The family of the deceased has blocked the road at Balimi Square in Hindol, Gudiakateni, demanding solar lights and solar panels for the villagers of Jhalapur and Chaturpaswa. The forest department and police have reached the spot and are trying to mediate with the villagers.
