Elderly woman mowed down to death by her son and grandson over land dispute in Odisha
In a heart-wrenching incident, an elderly woman was allegedly mowed down to death by her son and grandson over land dispute at Singada village under Panikoili police station limits of Jajpur district today. The deceased has been identified as 80-year-old Juli Sahoo.

As informed by Anita Sahoo, the daughter of Juli, she has three more siblings – two sisters and a brother. However, her father legally gave her the rights of ownership of their entire land as she was looking after her elderly parents.
Protesting his father’s decision, Anita’s brother Narayan Sahoo picked fight with her following which a long-pending land dispute is still underway in the family. A case was also registered in the local police station. Besides, the matter is also sub judice in the court.
While speaking to the media persons, Anita said that today she was going to the local police station along with her mother (Juli) as the police had called them for questing over the land dispute. In the meantime, Narayan’s elder son Kartik Sahoo came in a pick-up van and mowed down Juli to death, she alleged.
Later, a team of cops from the Panikoili police station reached the spot and started an investigation into the matter.
Anita also claimed that Narayan Sahoo, who was reluctant to vacate the paternal house, had issued a death threat to her. She demanded arrest of Narayan Sahoo, his elder son Kartik Sahoo and younger son Ramesh Sahoo, and Gopinath Mahapatra, the prime conspirator, and his brother-in-law Landa Mahapatra.
