Bhubaneswar: Efforts to make Odisha a corruption free state will continue, informed Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi while reviewing the works of the Vigilance Department at the Lok Seva Bhawan today.
In the review meeting, the Chief Minister said that Odisha Vigilance has set an excellent example by leaving behind the history of the last 20 years. Due to the zero tolerance policy of the government against corruption, the Vigilance Department has been working actively in the state and has been successful in catching the corrupt.
It was revealed from the discussions in the meeting that between April 1, 2025 and December 31, 2025, the state government has directed the Vigilance to investigate 125 cases, which is a record. Earlier, the state government had never given so many cases for investigation during this period of 9 months.
With this, a total of 488 cases were finalized in 2025. The highest number of cases were decided in 173 cases related to disproportionate assets. This is also an all-time record till now.
It is worth noting that Odisha is being praised all over India for its government’s action mode against corruption and the State Vigilance Academy has made great progress in its training process by following the Chief Minister’s zero tolerance policy. The State Vigilance Academy has been awarded the ISO 9001:2015 certificate for improving infrastructure and quality training. The academy has been awarded this certificate for the next three years. The Chief Minister highly appreciated the Vigilance Academy and the State Vigilance Department for this certificate.
In the year 2025, Vigilance raided a total of 487 places and took action against disproportionate assets and bribery. A total of 1,199 corrupt bank accounts of government employees have been closed, 153 buildings, 18.3 kg of gold, 417 plots, 12 farm houses have been seized. Along with this, deposits of Rs 36.69 crore and hoarded cash of Rs 8.8 crore have also been seized.
The Chief Minister said in the meeting that now is the time to completely rid Odisha of corruption and set an example so that government employees will refrain from the path of corruption. The Chief Minister advised the Vigilance Department to continue its campaign.
The meeting discussed various needs of the Vigilance Department such as capacity building, recruitment and filling up of posts. The Chief Minister said that an appropriate decision will be taken soon after examining this matter.
