District administration declares school holiday in Malkangiri today for heavy rains

The district administration has declared school holiday in Malkangiri today amid heavy rainfall but staff is asked to be present at schools.

Bhubaneswar: Malkangiri District Collector has announced school holiday today due to heavy rain in the district.

The MeT Department in Bhubaneswar issued a warning of rain, thunder and lightning for 18 districts of coastal Odisha and Southern Odisha under the influence of double low-pressure in Bay of Bengal.

In view of this, the district administration has declared school holiday in Malkangiri today. Malkangiri District Collector announced a holiday due to the possibility of heavy rain.

All private, government and aided schools will remain closed. However, teachers, principals and other staff have been instructed to be present in the school.

According to the India Meteorological Department, a low-pressure area is going to form in the north and central Bay of Bengal in the next 12 hours.

It is likely to become a depression by the evening of September 26 and will cross the south Odisha and north Andhra coasts today morning.

Under its influence, Koraput and Malkangiri districts are likely to receive very heavy rain, while other south Odisha districts are likely to receive heavy rain.

Similarly, the leaves of government employees in Koraput, Malkangiri and Nabarangpur districts have been cancelled with effect till September 28.
