Deer rescued from pond in Astaranga area of Puri district, watch

Kakatpur:  In a rare incident, a deer was rescued from a pond in Puri district in Odisha on Saturday. A few youths rescued the spotted deer (Chitra Harina) from a pond in the Ananta village near Astranga.

The number of deer in the Astrang forest area is increasing, leading to instances of them venturing into human habitats at night in search of food.

This morning, a deer strayed into Ananta village, and upon being spotted, panicked and jumped into a pond.

Brave youths from the village rushed into the water and rescued the animal, later identified as a spotted deer.

The Astrang forest department was informed, and officials took custody of the deer from the villagers.
