Urban Development Minister Krishna Chandra Mohapatra said that the Cuttack-Bhubaneswar Metro project has not been canceled.
Bhubaneswar: The Urban Development Minister has said that the Cuttack and Bhubaneswar metro project has not been cancelled. This has revived the dreams of the people of the Capital city for the metro project.
According to reports, while replying to a written question in the Assembly, Urban Development Minister Krishna Chandra Mohapatra said that the Cuttack-Bhubaneswar Metro project has not been canceled.
This project is currently under the scrutiny of the state government. An inter-ministerial committee has been formed in this regard. After receiving the report and recommendations of the committee, the government will take a final decision in this regard at the earliest.
A total of Rs 277.36 crore has been spent on this metro project so far. And out of that expenditure, Rs 252.05 crore has been paid after June 12, 2024, he added.
It is worth mentioning that in July, the denizens of Bhubaneswar and Cuttack were highly disappointed with reports of cancellation of their Metro dreams.
The DMRC has issued a formal Notice of termination to Ceigall India Limited for the Bhubaneswar Metro Rail Project.
The state government has cancelled the old contract for the Bhubaneswar Metro Rail project. The previous government had given the contract to Ceigall India Limited and Delhi Metro Rail Corporation Limited.
But according to reports, despite the repeated request of the State government these two companies have not paid adequate compensation as per the rules. It is worth mentioning here that, the work of the Metro project had been on hold since the past seven months.
