The jawan has been identified as Mihir Kumar Das from Kendrapara district.
He was shot with the service weapon at the paramilitary camp at around 5 am this morning, sources said.
Mihir was immediately rushed the District Headquarters Hospital in Angul, where he was declared brought dead.
It is still unclear whether it is a case of suicide or murder, a police official told Kalinga TV. A case has been registered in this connection, he said, adding that Mihir’s family members have been informed about the incident.
In 2016, a jawan was killed with the service rifle by a colleague in this camp.
The CRPF has deployed its personnel in various parts of Angul district to counter left wing extremism in the region.
