IMD issues lightning and thunderstorm alert to 16 districts of Odisha, check full details here

Bhubaneswar: The regional centre of the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued lightning and thunderstorm alert to 16 districts of Odisha.

The Meteorological Centre, Bhubaneswar, orange warning has been issued for districts including Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Balasore, Bhadrak, Ganjam, Gajapati, Koraput, Nabarangpur, Baragarh, Sundaragrah, Sambalpur, Jharsuguda, Deogarh, Angul, Dhenkanal, Jajpur also hail in the districts of Angul, Dhenkanal, and Jajpur. As per the weather department, thunderstorm with lightning accompanied with gusty surface wind speed reaching 40-50 kmph and heavy rainfall very likely to occur in the above district.

Likewise, the weather department has issued yellow warning for thunderstorm and lightning to districts including Balasore, Bhadrak, Khordha, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Gajapati, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Dhenkanal, Kandhamal, Koraput, Rayagada, Kalahandi and Nabarangpur.

Furthermore, the regional weather centre has also said that thunderstorms with lightning accompanied with gusty surface wind likely over districts of Odisha during next three to four days.

For tomorrow (May 8), the regional centre has issued orange alert for districts including Angul, Keonjhar, Rayagada, Kandhamal, Mayurbhanj, Ganjam and Gajapati.

Meanwhile, Balangir boiled at 44.5 °C as seven places record 43 degree Celsius temperature or above on Monday. With a temperature of 44 °C and 43.5 °C, Titlagarh and Boudh turned out to be the second and third hottest places of the State respectively.

Likewise, four other locations of the State witnessed temperature of or above 43 degree Celsius yesterday. They are Jharsuguda (43.4), Sambalpur (43.4), Bhawanipatna (43) and Bargarh (43). Bhubaneswar reported 39.8 °C while Cuttack City recorded 37.2°C temperatures.
