Congress MP Priyanka Gandhi to visit Odisha in March
Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra is set to visit Odisha in March, confirmed by PCC President Bhakta Charan Das.
Bhubaneswar: Senior Congress MP Priyanka Gandhi Vadra is all set to visit Odisha in March, confirmed Odisha Pradesh Congress Committee (OPCC) president Bhakta Charan Das today.
According to Bhakta Charan Das, Priyanka during her visit will be participating in a series of significant events including a large women’s conference where she will deliver a speech on the issues affecting women in Odisha.
The OPCC president has announced that the party MP will also engage herself with the women in various parts of the state, which will include 10 districts, highlighting women’s rights and security.
Das also stated that Congress will organize a large women’s gathering across the state in the coming days. Moreover, Priyanka will address the issues of violence and injustice faced by women, he informed adding that her visit will focus on the safety of women, a pressing issue in both the state and at the national level.
Gandhi’s visit is seen as a part of Congress’s ongoing effort to raise awareness about the safety and security of women. This is an issue that has been central to their political discourse. The party has repeatedly emphasized the rising incidents of violence against women, both in Odisha and across India. This is said to be one of the key issues before the upcoming panchayat elections as the grand old party believes the rights of women and the need to empower them in the region is important.
