Commissionerate Police issues traffic restrictions for Durga Puja festival in Bhubaneswar
The Commissionerate Police on Thursday issued traffic restrictions for the celebration of Durga Puja festival in Bhubaneswar. The traffic restrictions will come into effect from September 27 and will continue till October 2.
Bhubaneswar: The Commissionerate Police on Thursday issued traffic restrictions for the celebration of Durga Puja festival in Bhubaneswar. The traffic restrictions will come into effect from September 27 and will continue till October 2.
“The Durga Puja Festival will be celebrated in Bhubaneswar UPD from 28.09.2025 to 02.10.2025. To ensure better convenience and in the larger interest of public safety, by virtue of power conferred on me U/s- 28 of Odisha Urban Police Act. 2003 (Odisha Act 8 of 2007) and in pursuance of Regulation 36 of Bhubaneswar-Cuttack Police Commissionerate (Traffic and Public Order) Regulations, 2008, the following restrictions are imposed w.e.f. 27.09.2025 to 02.10.2025 from 2 PM to 2 AM for the convenience and safety of general public,” read the public notice of the city police.
No heavy vehicles will be allowed to ply on the following roads on the date and time mentioned above.
- Rasulgarh crossing to Lingipur crossing and vice-versa via Bomikhal, Laxmisagar, Kalpana, Ravi Talkies and Samantarapur crossing.
- Vani vihar crossing to Sishu Bhawan crossing and vice-versa via Rupali, Sataya Nagar, Ram Mandir, Master Canteen and Rajmahal crossing.
- Acharya Vihar crossing to Kalinga Hospital crossing and vice-versa via Sainik School crossing.
- Acharya Vihar crossing to New Airport crossing and vice-versa via Nicco Park, Patel Marg, Housing Board, Rabindra Mandap and AG crossing.
- Jayadev Vihar to Nadankanan and vice-versa via Xavier, Kalinga Hospital. Damana and Patia crossing.
- Jayadev Vihar crossing to Raj Bhawan crossing and vice-versa via Behera sahi and Sastri Nagar crossing.
- CRP crossing to Power House crossing and vice-versa via Stewart School and Unit-8 DAV School crossing.
- Fire Training school crossing to Sishu Bhawan crossing and vice-versa via Paika Nagar, Siripur and Ganganagar crossing.
- Khandagiri crossing to Pokhariput crossing and vice-versa vía Jagamara and Gandamunda crossing.
- Both side service roads of NH-16 from Baramunda to Palasuni.
- Heavy goods vehicles coming from Khurda side towards Cuttack side are not allowed to ply from Pitapaili Square. Those vehicles will be diverted from Pitapaili Square towards Balikuda Square via Chandaka Square and Baranga Square Similarly, heavy goods vehicles coming from Cuttack side towards Khurda side will be diverted at Balikuda Square towards Pitapalli Square via Chandaka Square and Baranga Square Taking into consideration of the volume of traffic and numbers of devotees, entry of heavy vehicles will be restricted from Pitapalli Square and from Birupa Birdge as and when required.
- During Rayan Podi at Nayapalli, the entire vehicular traffic coming on NH-16 from Cuttack side shall be diverted from Jayadev Vihar to CRP square or Fire Station Square via Behers shai, Sastri Nagar, Power House and Unit-8 DAV crossing Similarly, vehicular traffic will also be diverted from CRP Square towards Jaydev Vihar via Ekamra Kanana road and Biju Patthaik College road
For the public convenience and safety, the following restrictions are imposed on plying of passenger buses to and fro from Bhubaneswar on the above mentioned days
- Buses coming from Puri side towards Baramunda Bus Stand will not be allowed to ply inside the city and those vehicles will be diverted at Lingipur Square towards Hi-Tech Square via. Keshura Square and Pandara Square. Similarly, the buses coming from Baramunda towards Puri will avail the same route from Baramunda to Puri via Hi-Tech Square
- Buses coming from Puri side towards Cuttack side will avail the Bypass on NH from Lingipur to Hi-Tech Chhak via Kesura Square and Pandara Square Similarly, buses from Cuttack side towards Puri will avail the same route from Hi-Tech Square to Lingipur.
- All the buses (Govt/Private) plying from Master Canteen Bus Stand will not be allowed to proceed towards Vani Vihar Square as well as Ravi Talkies Squate Those vehicles will be diverted towards Acharya Vihar Square via Ram Mandir Square and Housing Board Square, (only when restriction is not in effect)
- Buses coming to Lingaraj Mandir during morning hours will not be allowed to proceed towards Kalpana / Sishu Bhawan side. Instead, they will be diverted towards Lingipur via Garage Chowk/Samantrapur Chowk
The above regulations shall not be applied for Police, Fire Brigade, Excise, Ambulance and other emergency vehicles Commissionerate Police Bhubaneswar Cuttack requests the public to plan their route accordingly.
This order is passed in the larger interest of public safety and violation of the instant order is an offence punishable U/s 96 of Odisha Urban Police Act-2003
Commissionerate Police, Bhubaneswar Cuttack appealed to the public to celebrate the festival responsibly, while following traffic and safety regulations.
