Speaking to Kalinga TV, Police Commissioner S. Dev Datta Singh said that three guidelines have been issued for Zero Night celebrations on December 31, 2025.

According to Singh, the Zero Night celebrations are allowed until 12.30 AM and those who are going to attend the party events are advised not to drive after getting drunk rather take a driver who will drive for them.

Those who will be found driving under the influence of alcohol will be detained at the police station throughout the night, Singh warned while advising women not to go to deserted and lonely places alone.

Similarly, the hotel managers have to take responsibility for the security of their hotels and they must pay attention for the hustle-free arrival and departure of people during the Zero Night celebrations, the Police Commissioner added.

He further advised them to be alert and watch out for smoke and short circuits. Be mentally and physically present and give importance to the security of the hotel.

Similarly, the commercial party event organizers also have been directed to manage the entire event with extensive security on CCTV cameras, Singh mentioned.

The commercial party event organizers have been requested to stay in touch with the nearest police station and prioritize security of the entire event.

The Police Commissioner also appealed the people to be aware of sound limit while celebrating at private parties or apartments and take precautionary measures so that it does not cause problems for others.

Speaking about the security arrangements, the Police Commissioner informed that a total of 18 platoons of police forces will be deployed on the roads and check drunk driving by setting up checkpoints at 18 places. Along with the traffic police, 29 watch patrol teams and 4 quick response teams will roam across the city and take immediate action on the safety and security of the entire city.

Similarly, 5 places have been identified to keep an eye on the New Year Day i.e January 1, 2026, Sing said adding that police will be deployed in Dhauli, Lingaraj Temple, Khandagiri and Udayagiri hills and Nandankanan Zoological Park.

This apart, police in plainclothes will be deployed in various parks, shopping malls and market areas to maintain law and order.
