Chhatisa Nijoga meeting approves Pahili Bhoga Niti from December 16
The Chhatisa Nijoga meeting which was held at the Shri Jagannatha Temple Office in Puri today approved the decision to begin the Pahili Bhoga Niti from December 16, informed the Shri Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA) Chief Administrator Arabinda Padhee.

While speaking to the newsmen after conclusion of the meeting, Padhee said that the Pahili Bhoga Niti will begin from December 16 and continue till January 13, 2026.
“As decided in the meeting, every day between December 16 and January 13, 2026, the Pahili Bhoga Niti will be held between 5.30 AM and 6 AM,” said Padhee adding that the Dwaraphita rituals will be done at 2 AM while the Pahuda Niti at 11 PM.
Padhee further said that the meeting also decided to hold the Deba Abhisheka (divine bathing ritual) of Lord Jagannath and his siblings peacefully and orderly on January 3, 2026. On this day, the Durlabha Suna Besha of the deities will also be held.
The Chhatisa Nijoga meeting has also gave importance to conduct the Makara Sankranti festival on January 14 2016 and a sub-committee will be formed among the servitors to organize this festival peacefully by performing all the associated rituals on time, he informed.
The SJTA Chief administrator also said that the next meeting of the Shri Jagannath Temple Managing Committee will focus on divyanga devotees’ peaceful darshana of the deities at the 12th century shrine. The meeting also discussed about the SOP prepared in this regard.
Padhee also stated that the meeting also discussed about the special darshan system for the residents of Puri but the Temple Managing Committee will take a decision in this regard after consulting with people from different walks of life.
He further mentioned that today’s meeting decided to allow public darshan at the Gundicha Temple after completion of the ongoing beautification works.
Speaking about the Ratna Bhandar inventory, Padhee said that an SOP has already been prepared and it will be done after getting approval from the Ratna Bhandar committee, Temple Managing Committee and state government.
Today’s Chhatisa Nijoga meeting was also attended by the Additional District Magistrate, Additional SP, representatives of Chhatisa Nijoga servitors, Shri Jagannath Temple Managing Committee sevayats, and administrative officers.
