Bhubaneswar: Odisha Leader of Opposition (LoP) and BJD president Naveen Patnaik will lead party’s padayatra in Bhubaneswar on his birthday, informed senior party leader and former Minister Ashok Panda today.

While speaking to the newsmen, Panda said that the conch party has decided to hold a padayatra in Ganganagar area under ward no 52 of the Ekamra-Bhubaneswar assembly constituency on October 16. Party president and former Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik will attend the padayatra.

“As October 16 is his (Naveen’s) birthday, the party activists and general public will convey him birthday wishes during the padayatra in Biju Adarsh Colony at Ganganagar. Following this, he is slated to visit the SOS Children’s Village and distribute sweets to the inmates in view of his birthday,” Panda added.

The conch party had launched its Jana Samparka Padayatra from Suando, the birthplace of Utkalamani Pandit Gopabandhu Das, in Puri on his birth anniversary on October 9 (Thursday). Usually, the regional party begins the month-long padayatra from October 2, on the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti. However, the party deferred it to October 9 as the Vijayadashami (Durga Puja) fell on the same day.
