Bhubaneswar Club elections: Pradeep Kumar Jena elected President
Former Odisha Chief Secretary Pradeep Kumar Jena has been elected as the new president of the Bhubaneswar Club.
Bhubaneswar: Former Odisha Chief Secretary Pradeep Kumar Jena has been elected as the new president of the Bhubaneswar Club. He defeated his close contender former Odisha Chief Secretary Asit Tripathy, who was in the post for third consecutive term
While the e-voting for different posts of the elite club was held yesterday, the ballot voting was conducted today morning and the results were declared in the evening following the counting of votes. Pradeep Kumar Jena elected as the next president by a margin of 18 votes. He got 891 votes in his favour while 873 members casted their votes for Asit Tripathy.
Likewise, Pragati Mohanty won as the Vice President with a 60-vote lead while Lalit Das secured victory as the Secretary with a margin of 76 votes. Similarly, Sambit Mohanty was elected as the Joint Secretary with a win of 68 votes.
While speaking to the newsmen after winning the election, Jena said, “I thank Asit Tripathy and his team as they gave a very strong fight. With the help and cooperation of all the club members and particularly my team members who worked hard within 10 days and ensured the win, for this thank them all.”
“As we have promised for vote for change in Bhubaneswar Club, we will ensue there will be transparency, accountability and ethics in both administrative and financial affairs,” he added.
“The first resolution of our executive board will be no one can be in the posts of president and secretary for more than two terms,” Jena assured.
on the other hand, in a display of sportsmanship, Asit Tripathy promptly extended his congratulations to Pradeep Jena, the newly elected President of Bhubaneswar Club, following the announcement of the election results.
Despite a closely contested race, where Asit Tripathy fell short by just 18 votes, he warmly acknowledged Pradeep Jena’s victory.
