Another youth arrested for provocative Instagram post
Commissionerate Police reportedly arrested another youth from Jagatpur area of Cuttack City on charges of posting provocative content on the Instagram.
Cuttack: Commissionerate Police reportedly arrested another youth from Jagatpur area of Cuttack City on charges of posting provocative content on the Instagram.
The arrested youth has been identified as Arshad Ali of Jagatpur. He has been booked under relevant sections of the IT Act and provisions pertaining to national integration.
According to Bhubaneswar-Cuttack Police Commissioner Suresh Dev Datta Singh, Arshad Ali and some of his friends had reportedly gone live on Instagram during which they made statements capable of inciting communal tensions.
Though Ali released a video seeking apology, the original content had already gone viral, Singh added while reiterating that stern action would be taken against people for online hate speech.
With Ali’s arrest, the number of persons arrested for posting provocative content on social media has risen to three.
Notably, the Police Commissioner had earlier warned to take stringent action against those who would post objectionable contents on any of the social media platforms.
