9 more arrested for arson and vandalism in Malkangiri district
Police have arrested as many as nine people for their involvement in the arson and vandalism in Malkangiri district, taking the total number of arrest to 15.
Malkangiri: Police have arrested as many as nine people for their involvement in the arson and vandalism in Malkangiri district, taking the total number of arrest to 15.
Malkangiri Sadar Police, which had earlier arrested six persons, arrested other nine accused persons today for their involvement in arson and vandalism at MV-26 village of the district.
Police investigation is further underway to arrest other accused persons.
On the other hand, the district administration has withdrawn BNS Section 163 in Rakhalguda and MV-26 villages and providing relief to affected families. Besides, electricity and water supply have been restored in the village. However, the suspension of internet services will continue till 12 PM tomorrow.
Meanwhile, the relief materials of the Indian Red Cross have reached the district, which will be distributed to the affected persons.
It is to be noted here tension prevailed among the locality after the beheaded body of a woman, a resident of Rakhelguda village, was recovered near the Dudumetla river. Her local residents alleged that she was killed by two residents of MV-26 village. Later, a group reportedly went to MV-26 village and vandalized and torched several houses. Besides, they set several vehicles on fire.
The entire violence resulted an estimated damage of Rs 3.8 crore.
Soon, the district administration swung into action and deployed security forces, conducted flag march and suspended internet services in order to maintain law and order situation in the locality.
